European Creative Hubs CAMPUS

Project Closing Event | 24th – 26th January, 2018 | Brussels, Belgium

EUROPEAN CREATIVE HUBS NETWORK announces its project closing event – the European Creative Hubs CAMPUS for creative hub leaders, cultural and creative organisations, local authorities and policy makers. The consortium partners of the European Creative Hubs Network (ECHN), a project co-funded by the European Union through the Creative Europe programme, look forward to welcoming the Network’s members and friends during a three-day even from 24th to 26th January 2018. The event is hosted by LaVallée, a creative hub in Brussels.

The European Creative Hubs Campus, organised and curated by the British Council (ECHN Lead partner), aims to showcase the outputs of the 2-year project by bringing together knowledge from workshops, forums, peer-to-peer exchanges, and research. Results of the Creative Hubs Barometer study will be presented, as well as a series of policy recommendations specifically designed to support the impact of creative hubs in the labour market and social protection provision, as well as in the field of incubation and acceleration.

The European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Mr Tibor Navracsics is expected to address the participants on Wednesday 24th January at 17.00. His speech will be followed by an intervention from the British Council’s Regional Director for the EU region, Mrs Rebecca H E Walton. On Thursday 25th January, Mr Christian Ehler, MEP and rapporteur of the EU Report on Creative Industries “On a Coherent EU Policy for the Cultural and Creative Industries,” will join a panel discussion on policy recommendations for better support of creative hubs and creative professionals. Throughout the 3 days, more than 80 creative hub leaders from across Europe, will be joined by more than 40 representatives of cultural and creative organisations, city authorities, local and European policy makers, participating and contributing in conversations about the creative hubs community across the continent, together with researchers and authors.

The goal of the event is not only to showcase the project’s results, but also to raise awareness about the newly-formed European Creative Hubs Network and its plans to grow & thrive for the next 5 years, as well as to discuss potential future collaborations and work with partners and policy makers across all sectors.
